19 February 2010 - Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin
The Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin is a day to remember the people who helped defend Darwin during the World War II bombings. Held each year at the Cenotaph in Bicentennial Park, Darwin, veterans and locals come to commemorate the brave with the sounding of the WWII air raid siren at 9:58am, which was the same time that it sounded on 19 February 1942 before 243 armed forces and civilians were killed.
A tribute to honour and remember those who helped defend Darwin, the Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin is commemorated each year on 19 February at the Cenotaph, Bicentennial Park, Darwin and attracts many vetrans who served in Darwin around that time.

19 April 2009 - Hi to the Dry Craft Fair and Expo
Held in the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin, the Hi to the Dry Craft Fair and Expo has a raft of craft specialists who sell anything from sewing machines, beads, glass tools, drawing supplies to stamp craft. If you want a bite to eat as your watching craft demonstrations or exhibitions, there is also food and drink available at the craft fair in Darwin.

The National Trust Walks in Darwin are a fantastic opportunity for bushwalking lovers to explore Darwin's region including its beautiful parks, architecture and other famous landmarks such as Fannie Bay Gaol.
You can take guided walks to learn more about Darwin's history, pioneering stories and the people that were a vibrant part of the city.

6 - 7 June - Orchid Spectacular
The Darwin Orchid Spectacular is a haven of colour and fragrance where you can enjoy orchids, gingers and bromeliads among other tropical plants. The flowers provide a perfect background for a glass of wine or high tea.
Come to the festival to see flower arranging demonstrations and gardening classes for anyone with a green thumb. If you want to get even more involved in the festival there are also orchid and photographic competitions you can enter.

The Darwin Fringe Festival is an opportunity to see innovative and modern-edge theatre and performance, visual arts and music by fresh, up-and-coming artists in the Northern Territory.

13 - 30 August 2009 - The Darwin Festival
One of the main attractions in Darwin is the Darwin Festival. You'll have lots of fun if you come to the festival during your visit to the capital.
Held in July 2009 over 18 days, the Darwin Festival entertains with a mixture of theatre, film, art, dance, cabaret and outdoor events. Darwin's strong Indigenous and multicultural scene adds diversity to the Darwin Festival and Indigenous Australian art is showcased during the festival.

October (date to be confirmed) 2009 - Northern Territory Children's Week
The Children's Week Association was established in 1988 and aims to provide care for children who are not living with their natural parents.
A range of organisations such as Government and Private Child Care Centres, Playgroup Association and UNICEF hold activities over children's week that try to increase public awareness about the needs and value of young children. Some of the activities include the Mall Program that incorporates children bringing orchestras, choirs, dancing groups and debating groups into the mall. There is also an open day where parents and children participate in activities together.

22 November 2009 - Christmas Craft Fair
The Christmas Craft Fair in Darwin is held in at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Filled with gifts, the Darwin Christmas Craft Fair is a great place to peruse for unique gifts for your loved ones.
Each gift holds a story from the person who made them to make them that extra special. You can make an event out of it and enjoy the food and drink available during the day.
Darwin arts and culture all year around
Araluen Cultural Precinct is Darwin's major centre for the arts. It contains among others, the Museum of Central Australia, the Araluen Arts Centre - which contains the Albert Namatjira Art Gallery, the Central Australia Aviation Museum, Yeperenye Sculpture and the Arthouse Cinema.
