Fishing in the Northern Territory Gets Overcrowded
Tuesday March 10, 2009
The wet season waters run off into the major rivers causing the presence of more fish than any other time of the year.
"I haven't seen anything like it before in the Top End," said fisherman Andrew Danius, 44-years-old at Shady Camp.
Even though this time is prime for fishing, Mr Danius from Ludmilla in the Northern Territory said that not many people he had spoke to had caught any of the barramundi that the Northern Territory is famous for.
Sunday Territorian fishing editor Matt Flynn was surprised at the increase in numbers of boats at ramps in recent years.
Flynn said more fishing areas and access points needed to be opened up so overcrowding ceases.
