The occupants had to be cut out of their cars, which were smashed and spread over both sides of Bagot Rd and Nemarluk Drive.
Police arrested the driver of the Mitsubishi.
'The driver of the ute has been taken to Darwin city watchouse for breath analysis,'; NT Police Senior Sergeant Garry Smith told the Northern Territory News last night."
However the cause of the crash remains unknown.
"It's too early to establish the full cause of the accident at this stage ... until we speak to witnesses and review the whole scene," commented Sen-Sgt Smith.
"The main thing at the moment is the welfare of the victims involved. That's our main priority. Once ... they are taken to hospital, police will then survey the scene and try to establish exactly what happened," he said.
