Darwin and Surrounding Area Becomes Croc-Free Zone
Friday April 10, 2009
Saltwater crocodiles within a 50km radius of Darwin will be killed or captured after the Northern Territory Government deploys a new crocodile management plan.
The Northern Territory News believes that the NT Government will ensure that land around Darwin, including the rural area will become a croc-free area.
Any crocodile found in this zone will be killed and used for skin and meat production, or used as stock in crocodile farms.
The croc management program came forth after eight-year-old Briony Goodsell was taken by a croc in the rural area of Darwin at Black Jungle Swamp near her Lambells Lagoon home.
The plan is expected to be released for public comment next Wednesday.
