Darwin Hosts RSPCA Dog Walk Day
Wednesday May 13, 2009
The RSPCA's Million Paws Walk charity will commence at the Jingili Water Gardens in Darwin's northern suburbs this Sunday.
You and your leashed dog are invited to join the walk that has been organised to provide essential funds to Darwin's Berrimah animal shelter so it can continue its work.
RSPCA Darwin operations manager Gillian Priddy said it is an opportunity to have a nice day out with your family and pet.
"Come down, bring your dog and enjoy the walk," she told the Northern Territory News in Darwin.
Money raised will go to buy pet food and vaccinations, and also upgrade its shelter facilities such as the worn cattery and kennel areas.
The walk will begin at 9am at the gardens on Sunday 17 May. Registrations begin at 8am. There is also face painting, raffles, food and drink, live entertainment and RSPCA merchandise available on the day in Darwin.
Last year 300 dogs took part.
Cost of entry is $9 adults, $7 children.
